About The Spin Den

Built in Bronzeville, for Bronzeville

The Spin Den was created to bring a more modern, comfortable laundry experience to Bronzeville.

The vision goes beyond washers and dryers. The Spin Den is designed to be a place where people can take care of an essential household need while having somewhere comfortable to sit, work, and connect.

Founder Jade Bryant is a Bronzeville resident who saw an opportunity to transform a long-vacant commercial property at 4200 S. King Drive into a useful neighborhood asset.

After acquiring the property, Jade personally funded the first phase of redevelopment, including major building-envelope improvements, architectural and engineering work, environmental review, and preparation for the interior buildout.

The goal is to create a laundromat that feels intentionally designed for the people who use it: clean, welcoming, technology-enabled, and rooted in the community it serves.

Why The Spin Den

Laundry is an essential service, but the experience does not have to feel purely transactional. The Spin Den is being designed around how people actually spend their time while their clothes are washing.

Customers will have access to modern commercial laundry equipment along with comfortable seating, Wi-Fi, device charging, a kids' area, and an amenity lounge designed to provide another option for how customers use their wait time.

The project also gives a long-vacant property at the corner of 42nd Street and King Drive a new purpose.

Reviving the Corner

Before becoming The Spin Den, the property had been vacant and showed years of deferred maintenance.

The first phase of redevelopment addressed the building itself. Work has included the roof, masonry, exterior improvements, storefront preparation, architectural and engineering design, structural reporting, and environmental assessment.

The next phase focuses on the interior infrastructure needed to operate the laundromat, including electrical, plumbing, gas, dryer exhaust, ceilings, restroom improvements, and the amenity lounge.
